I’ve thought a lot this week about my years with Annie and know that she gave me far more than I gave her. She taught me about unconditional love and loyalty and how the little things (a good belly rub, a tasty treat, an invigorating walk to smell, smell, and smell, a comfy bed, and spending time with your master) really do make life worth living. Our precious four-legged pets accept with eager gratitude whatever measure of time and attention we give them and still greet us with tail-wagging and body wriggling delight whenever we enter the room. Annie was with me for almost one-third of my life and I will never forget all the ways she made my life special. She was truly my best friend!
